Solar Panels

Solar panels consist of solar cells arranged in a grid like patterns. Solar panels use sunlight to generate energy through the photovoltaic effect.

There are three generations of solar cells. The first generation consists of large-area, single junction devices. The second generation consists of thin-film solar cells. They are cheaper to produce than the ones from the first generation, but they are not so efficient. The third generation aim for low production costs and higher efficiency. The last ones are still in research phase.

Solar panels suit a large range of applications: from small pocket calculators to battery chargers or solar-powered cars. The good news is that now you can build your own solar panels with minimum costs.
